In response to the post 1-2 days ago. First of all, I have still not yet been contacted by Mr. Kovach, who started the post. And according to my records, the coilovers were purchased in Feb 2009, so they are 2 years old and out of warranty (but I will get to that in a bit). But to all customers concerned about corrosion on their SPL coilovers, please read on... I began offering KTS coilovers back in 2004, so this is a product that we have had on the market for 7 years now. I had worked with KTS in the first year to improve the plating for customers in the northeast, and since then I haven't really had any major complaints about corrosion, until now. I will stand behind the product, so I will offer 2 solutions to customers with major/unreasonable rust issues on their coilovers, even if out of warranty. I will provide a one time replacement of the rusted components, or a trade-up to our new coilovers (to be released later this year) for the price difference. Over the last few years, I have been making improvements in our products in both performance, durability and corrosion resistance. The KTS coilovers have been a good product, but there are improvements that could be made. Our new coilovers will have aluminum brackets and nickel plated shock bodies, to provide the best possible corrosion resistance. And in anticipation of the question of "why not aluminum coilovers?" -- aluminum shocks do experience more shock body distortion under load, and therefore will require more care and maintenance (ie. more frequent rebuilds). That is why aluminum coilovers are generally sold as a race level product, and why I am continuing to spec for steel bodied shocks on our new coilovers. Pricing on our new coilovers has not yet been finalized, so unfortunately that is one question I cannot answer now. If you have a badly rusted SPL/KTS coilover, and want either replacement components now, or be placed on a list for a future trade-up, please email me at sales@splparts.com.
